– My review of night one is here.

IWGP United States Title Match: Champion Jay White vs. Punishment Martinez: Jay gets a huge reaction. Martinez looks to be in really good shape; he’s leaned up in the last month. Jay is coming off of a great title defense against Finlay, while Martinez recently beat Ishii. They go face-to-face and brawl right away. Jay lays in chops and strikes. The dropkick follows and Martinez gets dumped to the floor. Jay follows with a clothesline off of the apron, but Martinez then tosses him into the barricade. Back in they go, Martinez up top and the spin kick connects for 2. Martinez lays in knee strikes as Adam Page joins commentary. Martinez follows with corner attacks, and does the deal with a falcon arrow for 2. Martinez lays in rights, they trade strikes and Martinez drops Jay with a huge right. Jay hits a desperation dropkick, and follows with chops. Jay now lays in running uppercuts and a Saito suplex for 2. Jay then hits a suplex to the buckles, covering for 2. Martinez fires up as Jay lays in more chops, Martinez hits the stomp and heads to the ropes and hits a spear for 2. Martinez hits a big lariat, and Jay rolls to he floor. Martinez wipes him out with a step up dive. Back in, and Martinez hits the psycho driver for a great near fall. Martinez looks for the chokeslam, hits a head kick, but Jay hits a flatliner and German! Martinez fights off blade runner and hits the curb stomp for another near fall. Martinez now gets a chair and page rushes to the ring. He takes the chair away, allowing Jay to hit blade runner for the win. Champion Jay White defeated Punishment Martinez @ 10:55 via pin [***½] This was a very good opener, as these two worked well together once again. I get why they did the finish to add to he build to Page and Martinez tomorrow, but it made it come off flat.

– Bully Ray arrives. Bully complains that streamers are stupid and says to not ever throw them at him again. So the fans throw more. He then calls the fans “millennial, snowflake, marks” and thy throw more streamers at him. Bully calls the fans cowards that don’t have the balls to shut him up. The crowd now chants “we want Devon,” and Bully says he’s the real star. Devon played backup their entire career. He promises an ass kicking tonight. Cheeseburger arrives; Bully destroyed him last night. Burger tells Bully to shut up and says that he’s not afraid.

Bully Ray vs. Cheeseburger: Bully attacks at the bell and hits a German. Bully sets him in the tree of WHOA and beats on him. Burger fights back with a low blow, and Bully is on the ropes. Burger follows him up but eats a superbomb. Bully, like Wednesday, drops to the floor and argues with the fans. Back in and he gets his chain. He whips Burger for the DQ. Cheeseburger defeated Bully Ray @ 3:15 via DQ [NR] More of the same from Bully, it wasn’t good, at all.

– Bully pulls up the floor matting and looks for another powerbomb, but then just drops Burger and leaves.

IWGP IC Champion Tetsuya Naito vs. The Beer City Bruiser: Bruiser refuses the handshake. Naito plays around to begin, refusing to lockup and frustrating the Bruiser. They stall a lot, were 2-minutes in and Bruiser finally attacks. Naito spits at him and dumps Bruiser to the floor. Tranquilo time for Naito. Bruiser back in and takes control. Bruiser bites him, but Naito fires back. Bruiser cuts him off and hits a basement dropkick for 2. Bruiser now follows with rights and bites Naito again, doing his best Iizuka impression. Naito fires back but misses a dropkick. Bruiser hits an elbow drop for 2. Naito manages to pick up the pace, takes out the knee and the corner dropkick combo connects. The neck breaker follows for 2. Naito lays the boots to Bruiser, they work to the apron and Bruiser hits an apron DVD. Naito back in and Bruiser hits the cannonball and side slam for 2. Bruiser looks for a powerbomb, but Naito counters with a tornado DDT. They trade rights, and Bruiser hits a lariat for 2. Bruiser heads up top and misses the frog splash. Naito hits a sloppy destino and another for the win. Champion Tetsuya Naito defeated The Beer City Bruiser @ 12:16 via pin [**] I’d complain about the biggest star on the tour being in the 3rd match, but Naito was completely unmotivated here, as expected. He coasted on the fact that the crowd loved him and popped for the smallest things. This was ok at best, but went way too long.

– Whitmer replaces Cabana on commentary, as Cabana was “needed in the back.”

The Young Bucks vs. Super Smash Bros. (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson): The Bucks handpicked their opponents tonight, and these two teams have a great history against each other. Matt and Uno to begin. They work some back and forth, Matt fires up with a shoulder tackle but Uno cuts him off. Matt hits a head scissors and dropkick. Grayson and Nick tag in. They work some fast paced back and forth, and trade strikes and chops. Nick hits the lucha arm drags and dumps Grayson. The Bucks follow with double teams and clear Uno to the floor. Matt back in and the Bucks isolate Grayson. They work some double teams, and pose. Matt with the back flip into a back rake on Grayson. Grayson manages to dump Matt and Uno slams him to the apron, working on the injured back of Matt. Matt rolled back in and Grayson hits a standing moonsault for 2. Uno tags back in and rakes the eyes of Matt. He follows with chops, and rakes the back. Grayson back in and they work double teams on Matt; Grayson covers for 2. The Smash Bros. work double teams, isolating Matt in their corner. Grayson pulls Matt to the floor, but Matt posts him. Uno cuts off the tag and the Demolition demolisher connects for 2. Matt tries to fight them both off, but Grayson cuts off the tag. Matt then superkicks Uno and looks for the tag. Grayson again cuts him off, but Matt hits the desperation spear. Matt finally gets the tag as Nick runs wild, best hot tag in the business. He dropkicks Uno to the floor and hits the x-factor on Grayson and moonsault onto Uno. The high cross gets 2 on Grayson. It breaks down and the Bucks get stereo sharpshooters. The SSB make the ropes and Uno fights off superkicks and makes his own comeback and tags Grayson in. He follows with an over the post tope. Back in and double teams follow on Matt for a good near fall. SSB look for fatality but matt fights them off and Nick then accidentally knees Matt. PELE by Grayson on Nick and Uno tags back in. He and Matt trade strikes, Uno hits the KO shot but runs into a superkick. It completely breaks down into the big move buffet fatality by the SSB gets a great near fall. The crowd loves this. Grayson tags back in, and hits a RANA on Matt. Grayson suplexes the Bucks into each other and the 450 connects and that gets another great near fall! The crowd bought that big time. The Bucks fire back with superkicks and run wild! More bang for your buck is cut off and Grayson gets a cradle for 2. But the Bucks take out Uno and hit the Meltzer driver for the win. The Young Bucks defeated Super Smash Bros. @ 17:40 via pin [****] This was a great match, easily the best of the tour so far. They had a great crowd, great action, and some incredible near falls. Make sure to check this one out. ROH or Impact need to sign Super Smash Bros. now.

– The Briscoes attack post match and beat everyone down. Jay lays out Nick with the Jay driller. Jay says they wanted to remind us who runs this shit. He hopes the fans wearing Bullet Club or Young Bucks shirt burn in hell.

– Sumie Sakai joins commentary.

Jenny Rose & Tenille Dashwood vs. Alexia Nicole & Xandra Bale: Rose will be challenging for the women of honor title on Sunday. Rose and Nicole to begin. They lock up and work into some back and forth. Rose grounds the action, and then follows with arm drags. The side slam gets 2. Dashwood tags in and they double team Nicole and Dashwood covers for 2. They trade strikes and Dashwood takes her down and hits a basement dropkick for 2. Rose tags back in and Nicole cuts her off and Bale stuns her off the ropes. Nicole covers for 2. Nicole basically misses a dropkick, but then connects with corner knees for 2. Bale tags in and they work over Rose in the corner. Bale hits a running boot and follows with another kick for 2. Nicole in and accidentally spears Bale. Dashwood tags in and runs wild. The tarantula follows. She trips bale into Nicole and hits the corner splash. The cover gets 2. Nicole & Bale look confused, Rose tags in and she and Dashwood ay them out and Rose picks up the win. Jenny Rose & Tenille Dashwood defeated Alexia Nicole & Xandra Bale @ 6:35 [*] This was bad, bale &Nicole were not ready for this spot, and looked off or lost most of the time.

SoCal Uncensored (Daniels, Sky, & Kaz) vs. Rocky Romero, Sho, & Yoh: This was to be for the six-man titles, but Socl Uncensored lost the titles on Wednesday. 3K defeated the former champions at Strong Style Evolved. Kaz and Romero to begin. They work into some counters, and Romero gets a cradle for 2. The backslide follows again for 2. They work into a stand off. Romero grounds the action, Daniels cuts him off and then tags in. Romero runs the Addiction together and hits a RANA on Sky. Yoh tags in and lays in uppercuts on Daniels. The head scissors follows. Sho tags in and 3K runs wild. Sho isolates Daniels, he takes out Sky and then Kaz cuts him off on the floor. SoCal lays the boots to Sho. Daniels & Kaz work double teams, and follow wit h slingshot elbows, leg drops and a splash by Sky for 2. Sky follows with a side back breaker, and tags in Kaz. He grounds Sho, and tags Sky back in. triple teams follow on Sho and Daniels hits the lionsault. The cover gets 2. Kaz back in, maintaining the heat on Sho. Daniels back in, Sho runs them together and hits backstabbers. Tag to Yoh and he runs wild with dropkicks and dragon screws. Whisper in the wind connects on Sky for 2. Yoh fights off Daniels & Sky and tags in Romero. He flies in with a RANA and runs wild with forever clotheslines. The RANA follows on Kaz & Daniels. It breaks down and Kaz fights them off. SoCal lays in strikes but eats jumping knees from 3K. 3K follows with a trio of dives. Back in and they triple team Kaz. Double teams follow but Daniels makes the save. Daniels gets dumped and Kaz counters sliced bread. They isolate Romero and look for the best Meltzer ever, but Daniels is cut off. 3K works over Kaz, but Daniels & Sky return and Sky hits a tope! Celebrity rehab finishes Romero. SoCal Uncensored defeated Rocky Romero, Sho, & Yoh @ 12:35 via pin [***] This was a good and fun tag match, about on par with their Strong Style Evolved match.

– Punishment Martinez attacks Page before the match and lays him out with a chair shot. Young watches on as Martinez curb stomps Page onto a chair. Young says he has a job to do and wants to defend the title. He wants the ref to count out Page and raise his hand. The ref rings the bell and Page makes his way back to the ring.

ROH TV Title Match: Champion Silas Young vs. Adam Page: Young attacks right away, beats on Page and hits a suplex for 2. The crowd is behind Page as he tries to fight back. Young dumps him to the floor. They now battle on the apron, and Young maintains control. The slingshot double stomp follows and Young covers for 2. Page keeps fighting, and hits a desperation lariat. Page lays in strikes and chops, and hits another lariat for 2. Page looks for rite of passage, but Young escapes, and hits a knee strike and draping neck breaker for 2. Young is pissed ad the crowd tries to rally Page. They trade strikes; Young hits a big boot and another. To the apron they go, and Page knocks Young to the floor and follows with a top rope moonsault to the floor! Back in and Page hits the buckshot lariat! Rite of passage is countered and Young hits a knee strike and misery for the win. Champion Silas Young defeated Adam Page @ 7:10 via pin [***] This was a good and well done match/angle, as it feels as if ROH is positioning Page as a babyface going forward. They did a great job of making Page a fighting and sympathetic babyface, and the crowd was into him.

EVIL & SANADA vs. The Addiction, The Kingdom vs. Hung Bucks vs. SoCal Uncensored as well as Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Adam Page are set for the upcoming UK dates.

Cody vs. Jushin Liger: Burnard the Business Bear is out with Cody. They lock up, Cody counters out and talks with Burnard. Liger now grounds the action, working a surfboard until Cody makes the ropes. Cody powders and takes a drink of water. Liger invites him back in and grounds Cody again. Cody makes the ropes and shoves Liger. Cody does pushups and Liger does some of his own. Burnard claps for Liger and Cody gets pissed. Cody then attacks, but Liger hits a shotei and works the Romero lock. He adds in the chinlock, and finally releases it. Burnard trips up Liger allowing Cody to dump him. They brawl on the floor, with Cody taking control. Back in and Cody lays the boots to Liger. Cody poses and then attacks the knee of Liger. Cody now works the figure four, but Liger rolls it and Cody has to break the hold. Cody hits a dump suplex; heads up top and Liger cuts him off and follows him up. The superplex follows for Liger! Shotei by Liger, he sets Cody back up top and the RANA connects and Liger covers for 2. Cody fights off the brainbuster, and Liger then takes out Burnard. Cody follows with a step up dive to the floor. Back in and Cody misses the disaster kick, and Liger hits a rough looking powerbomb for 2. And we get a fucking ref bump. Cody tosses chairs in, sets one up and sets Liger on it. He grabs the other chair and the ref takes it. Chair shot by Liger and the small package gets 2. Liger lays in corner strikes, but Cody cuts him off and hits cross Rhodes for the win. Cody defeated Jushin Liger @ 12:12 via pin [**½] This was solid, and was actually going well until they resorted to the bullshit ref bump and chairs, which really killed it for me. It wasn’t needed, and added nothing to the match.

– Liger gets a great ovation post match.

– Lethal takes the mic and introduces Colt Cabana as their partner.

EVIL, SANADA, & Hiromu Takahashi vs. Kenny King, Jay Lethal, & Colt Cabana: Castle is out of this due to his injuries. Flip Gordon is also out of the match, due to travel issues. This is now changed to a 6-man, as BUSHI was pulled from the LIJ side, so he’s just at ringside with Daryl Takahashi Jr. Colt Cabana is now teaming with King & Lethal, because the good brother always brings his gear. Jay and SANADA to begin. They lock up, working some nice back and forth. They work into a standoff. SANADA offers a handshake, Jay accepts and they try to attack each other. SANADA takes him down and gets the paradise lock. Cabana saves Jay and helps him up. They lock up again, working into standing switches and the lethal combination follows from Jay. EVIL tags in, as does King. They shove each other; King takes him down and grounds the action. Cabana tags in and EVIL cuts him off with a boot. Cabana hits a head scissors and Takahashi tags in. Cabana then calls out Daryl Jr. The crowd loves this. Takahashi brings in Daryl, Cabana just wants Daryl. Cabana looks to attack, but Takahashi rolls him up for 2. Cabana threatens to elbow Daryl to “you sick fuck” chants. He throws Daryl into the air and rolls up Takahashi for 2 as Daryl loses his mask. Cabana and Takahashi back to action, and Cabana gets the superman pin for 2. Cabana then follows with a splash for 2. The delayed suplex follows from Cabana, Jay tags in and takes over and then King in and takes Takahashi. He finally hits the suplex for 2. King lays in strikes and chops. He misses the corner splash as Takahashi fires back. Jay tags back in and BUSHI trips him up, allowing LIJ to rush the ring and attack. BUSHI works him over, and EVIL then posts King. LIJ takes the heat on Jay with SANADA tagging in. SANADA low blows Jay and locks in the paradise lock once again. BUSHI attacks again as Jay is trapped in the ropes. Cabana saves him as BUSHI takes him out. LIJ double teams Jay, covering for 2. EVIL grounds the action. Jay slowly fires back, but BUSHI trips him up. Jay cuts off EVIL with the lethal combination. Hot tag to King and he works over SANADA. The spin kick follows and Takahashi in and King hits the chin checker. The tornillo follows to the floor. Back in and the spinebuster on SANADA follows for 2. SANADA locks on skull end, King escapes and SANADA hits a RANA. LIJ double teams King, but King tags in Cabana. Cabana hits a moonsault press and lays in jabs and elbows. He hits a pair of flying assholes, and covers for 2. Takahashi cuts him off and connects with a superkick. EVIL tags in and hits a lariat and broncobuster. SANADA in and they look for manic killer, but Cabana fights it off. EVIL hits the lariat for 2. The magic killer gets 2 as King makes the save. SANADA hits the TKO on King but Jay hits a cutter as it breaks down. Jay hits a trio of suicide dives. He hits a 4th onto BUSHI and then a 5th and 6th. Fuck it, he hits another. Cabana locks on Cubs win on EVIL, and he makes the ropes. Takahashi hits the sunset bomb to the floor onto Jay; he’s dead Jim. BUSHI mists Cabana and everything is evil finishes Cabana. EVIL, SANADA, & Hiromu Takahashi defeated Kenny King, Jay Lethal, & Colt Cabana @ 22:15 via pin [***½] ROH had to make changes, and while it wasn’t an idea situation, they were able to deliver a very good, fun, and crowd pleasing main event. It ended up being a blast at times, and the closing stretch really added a lot to the match. They made the best of a bad situation.

– Naito arrives as LIJ closes the show and celebrates.

– End Scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Tonight’s ROH War of The Worlds event was an improvement over night one, with some good and some bad. The company again has to scramble to change the card due to Castle’s injury and Gordon’s travel issues. The bloom appears to be off the rose for these combined events, in the past they felt like such a big deal, but this time around, we don’t have some of the bigger names, and they are having matches without stories, which makes it hard to really get invested. It’s far from a bad show, but it’s also far from a must-see event. The Young Bucks vs. Super Smash Bros. is the must-see match from the show, and the best match on the tour so far.
